Find us on:
Initiated in 2011 under the guidance of Fundacja IT, a non-profit dedicated to promoting a contemporary, well-educated, and digitally advanced society, the C++ Institute has evolved into a globally recognized project. Since 2017, OpenEDG has taken the lead, managing and directing its operations and continuing its legacy of excellence.
The C++ Institute unites a vibrant community of IT professionals, programming experts, enthusiasts, educational institutions, training organizations, companies, and volunteers. Together, they are committed to the advancement of programming skills in C and C++, focusing on quality development, assessment excellence, and the widespread adoption of these languages.
One of the C++ Institute's core objectives is to establish a standard for programming skills and to offer developmental pathways for individuals aspiring to excel in C and C++ programming.
Recognized as the world’s premier organization for a high-stakes C and C++ certification program, the C++ Institute facilitates candidate testing at thousands of accessible and secure centers globally. This program underscores the Institute's commitment to setting a benchmark in programming skills and proficiency.
The C++ Institute has also been a proud and longstanding sponsor of the Standard C++ Foundation, supporting its mission to promote and advance the use of modern Standard C++. The C++ Institute's Silver Membership in the Foundation underscores the its dedication to nurturing a thriving ecosystem for C++ development and contributing to the language's ongoing evolution and excellence.
The C++ Institute has defined global certification paths for the C and C++ programming languages and has developed an international C and C++ examination standard.
Candidates can take a number of certification exams of various competency levels (Entry, Associate, and Professional) via TestNow™ (an OpenEDG Test Delivery system), and at over 5,000 Pearson VUE® Authorized Test Centers and Pearson VUE® Authorized Test Center Selects at a time and location convenient to them.
The C++ Institute’s role is to help existing C and C++ programmers, as well as aspiring developers and enthusiasts from all over the world, to expand their programming skills and knowledge, and to help them gain recognition for their expertise and coding proficiency.
The C++ Institute is run from its main headquarters in the beautiful city of Szczecin, West Pomerania, Poland, where the initiative originally started. Additionally, the Institute operates through a network of several hundred partners worldwide, who serve as local advocates and promoters of the initiative, furthering its reach and impact in the global programming community.
The project was launched in 2011. The first work on the C and C++ e-learning system started in 2009, while the idea came much earlier.
In 2012, the C++ Institute entered into an agreement for test delivery with Pearson VUE, the world leader in computer-based testing. The new certification program was designed to address the IT industry’s immediate need for C and C++ programmers.
In 2011, a user-friendly e-learning platform was established, offering students complimentary access to a range of self-enrollment courses. These courses are designed to enhance C and C++ programming skills and provide comprehensive preparation for certification exams at TestNow™ and Pearson Vue Test Centers.
Following this, in 2012, the Academy Program was introduced. This complimentary initiative serves as an educational tool for schools, universities, and training organizations, facilitating the teaching of C and C++ programming to students and aiding in candidate assessment. Over time, this program has been seamlessly integrated into the OpenEDG Education Partner Program, making its enriched curriculum accessible to members through Edube, OpenEDG's specialized e-Learning platform.
Furthermore, the C++ Institute plays a pivotal role in assisting companies to identify and recruit skilled C and C++ developers. Through its tailored Assessment Solutions program, the Institute recommends candidates who precisely match the specific requirements of businesses, ensuring an optimal fit for both the employer and the employee.
